Entertainment On The Mountain

"On Friday and Saturday nite befor the furst monday of the month we has a special fun time here on the mountin'. Some really fin' entertainers comes out and shares their talents with us all. Rite here on the mountin! Why there is sangers, and dancers, and comedy skits rite here, and they comes back ever' month to make WW2Mtn the best show place in all of Canton, an in a lot of other places to! They even tells me that very soon we ar gonna have a big theater lik they has way up north in Branson!"

"Of course ther's lots of other entertainmt up here on the mountin. Why round most ever turn your likely to find some folks singin' and playin' on their porches, or performin' skits in the streets."

"And yes, the King has been sighted on the mountin' from time to time. (But I wouldn't spec to se him on ever First Monday weekend up on the mountin' cause I hear he gets aroun' to a lot of other places too!)"

"And you can always depend on the Wild Mountain Rangers to show up to keep the peace when them onery skonks shows up to limit our fun on the mountin'."

"Heres wher they caut a really bad hombre! I can't remember just what his crime was, but it was probably somethin' pretty terribl' lik spittin' on the sidewalk, cause they hauled him right out on the stage and tried him in front of everbody! They didnt hang him or nuttin' tho. They jus made a real example of his kind of lawlesnes. After all, you can't jus ignor stuf lik that or the kids will pik up on it, an befor long ther won't be no respeck fer the law at all!"

"Course it's not always the wurst offenders what gets caught up here. I 'members when Beverly (Mrs Willie) was caught by the mayor for sangin' on Sunday. Why they handcuffed her and hauled her off to Willie and demanded he pay the entir fine of one hole dollar!"

"As I 'member it, Willie was a bit short that day. Had only 'bout 87cents on him so we all thought she was a gonna have to spend the nite in jail, but she begged and begged and the mayor let her off with a stern warnin'. Course as soon as he walked off she sang a couple more numbers, and they was rite good too!"

"An thats jus the beginnin' of all the doins up here on the mountin'. Why bak in June of '96 we had our very furst weddin' on the mountin! Thats rite, Dale and Joyce Melton from way off down Tyler way was a joined in mariag on June furst. Now as I 'membrs it, we had an unscheduled thunderstorm that day and so we jus moved that ceremony from an outdoor amphitheater on the mountain to rite inside Meyers Mill. We all got to watch their vows and then toasted the bride and groom with cornbread pizza.
Wel, maybe that's not quite how ya'll does thangs bak wher your from, but they ended up jus as married as if we'd had the finest Franch champane and fancy fixins, and we all got to shar that happy time with 'em rite here on the mountin'! Why, me and the missus stil gets all teary eyed ever time when we talks 'bout it."

"Well now from time to time Wild Willie brangs some real special entertainers up here an they performs rit chere on the mountin at Wild Willie's Concert Grounds. That is a big outdoor theater that offers sum of the finest entertainment from places lik Nashville, and Branson, and its always at real reasonable prices. There's never any lack of excitment up there caus sum of the Wild Mountin Rangers goes up and has shoot-outs afore the show and other fun thangs."

"Why just recently we had Mr Willie Nelson came up here and sang fer us. And we had lotsa other fin ones too! Iffen you calls the office they can tell you whats scheduled next."
